U.K.’s Prince Harry Confirms U.S. Residency Status

Prince Harry, the son of King Charles III, has officially confirmed his status as a United States resident.

The confirmation was made through official paperwork filed by Travalyst Ltd, a travel company Harry controls. The paperwork stated that he is now “usually resident” in the U.S.

This paperwork, received by Companies House in the U.K. on Monday, indicates Harry’s ongoing shift from his royal connections in Britain to his life in Southern California with his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

Harry, fifth in line to the British throne, relocated to the U.S. with Meghan four years ago, settling in the wealthy Montecito, California, area.

Since moving, Harry has distanced himself from the British royal family. He has been vocal in criticising them through various media productions, including a Netflix series and his autobiography, “Spare.”

While Harry maintains his title as a counsellor of state, capable of representing King Charles III during his incapacity or absence, the royal family has indicated that only active royals will undertake these duties in practice.

His move to the U.S. has not been without scrutiny. A conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, has raised questions regarding the legality of Harry’s U.S. visa in light of his admitted past drug use in “Spare”. Heritage Foundation avers that he may have received special treatment.
