President Bola Tinubu tripped and fell on Wednesday while attempting to climb a parade motorcade during the Democracy Day celebration at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The now-viral video on social media captured the unexpected moment the president fell just before the motorcade parade began.

The president missed his steps and fell flat while his aide rushed to help him regain mobility and composure.

The June 12 commemoration was part of a series of events to mark Nigeria’s 25 years of Democracy.

Following the fall, the Presidency noted it was a minor incident through the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.

Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues,” he wrote via X.

Meanwhile, in a solo protest, Nigerians chanted “minimum wage” as President Tinubu’s motorcade paraded the Eagle Square.
