A man has been arrested for violating the data privacy of a minor he registered for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB exams. The yet-to-be-identified man was called out by a woman known as Iphieajike on X on Saturday.

She revealed that the staff pulled her number from her daughter’s registration profile, which she had used during the registration process on Saturday, and began messaging her on WhatsApp.

In her post, she said, “I don’t know what goes on in the heads of Nigerian men that makes them so stupid.

“Took Jaya to the CBT centre to register for JAMB today. I used my number to set up her profile, and now one of the staff from the centre is chatting with me, thinking I am Jaya. He’s going to FAFO!

“This guy is committing so many criminal offences at once; it’s crazy. He’s still chatting with me. He says he got her number from the system after she registered and left because he couldn’t help himself. JAMB, where are my daughter’s data protection rights?” She queried.

Following her post, the exam body responded with its official handle by saying it does not condone any practice that would bring shame to the body and also assured her that the culprit and his accomplices would be brought to book.

“@Iphie Alias Madam Dial-A-Pot, thank you for this information. The Board, as a regulatory agency, does not condone any form of unwholesome practice that would bring its integrity to disrepute. You can rest assured that your ward’s information on our database is safe and intact, and the culprit and his accomplices will be decisively brought to book.”

According to the mother, JAMB immediately swung into action, and the culprit was arrested today. “The guy has been arrested. He and his accomplice, the guy who registered my child, are currently in custody,” she posted.
