Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old suspected killer of Christiannah Idowu, has been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command by officers of the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade today.

This was confirmed by Lagos Police Public Relations Officer Ben Hundeyin in a post on X.

According to reports, Christiannah Idowu, a young woman, was declared missing on August 19, 2024. However, the report shows the suspected murderer, a close friend, Adeleye, reportedly confessed to killing her and burying her body in his family’s compound in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Christiannah’s disappearance was first reported when her parents were contacted by her abductors via her WhatsApp account.

The kidnappers sent disturbing images of the young woman in captivity using WhatsApp’s ‘view once’ feature and demanded a ransom of ₦1,500,000. Her family managed to raise ₦350,000, which they transferred to a betting account provided by the abductors.

On August 22, after receiving the ransom, the abductors requested that the bank statement of the sender be sent to an email address linked to the suspect.

The following day, communication between the kidnappers and Christiannah’s family abruptly ceased.

Investigations began after the family’s attempts to reconnect with the abductors failed. On August 26, intelligence operatives traced the transactions to a betting account, which led them to a suspect who had a personal connection with Christiannah.

It was discovered that the suspect had interacted with Christiannah online, with both leaving comments on each other’s Instagram posts.

Further evidence linked the suspect to the crime, including a sum of ₦100,000 transferred from Christiannah’s GTBank account to the suspect’s Wema Bank account.

Operatives locked the betting account, but not before the suspect had withdrawn part of the money.

According to the report, investigators traced the suspect’s phone, leading them to his family home in Ikorodu. On August 3, Nigerian Army personnel from the 174 Battalion arrested the suspect.

Shockingly, the suspect is reportedly being investigated for the deaths of two other women close to him—his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020—both of whom died under suspicious circumstances similar to Christiannah’s murder.

Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into these disturbing revelations.
