The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a nurse in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman identified as Abiola. The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.

According to Hundeyin, the Maroko Police Division received a report on Tuesday around 11:40 a.m. from the driver of the deceased. The driver stated that his employer, who resided in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki, had asked him to take her to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 around 3:00 a.m. on Monday for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) injection. After receiving an injection for the buttocks enlargement procedure, the victim, only identified as Abiola, reportedly lost consciousness and began struggling to breathe.

The clinic staff rushed her to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where she was declared dead by the attending doctor.

“The victim was rescued and rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 for treatment, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives. The hospital was also visited, where the corpse was inspected and photographed before it was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy,” Hundeyin said.

The nurse responsible for administering the injection has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident is reportedly ongoing.
