Uganda’s Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, General Moses Ali, announced Wednesday his plan to run for the Adjumani West parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections.

He also welcomed competition from other candidates.

Anybody can contest with me in 2026, Ali said during an event. I have no problem. It’s up to you to make your choice; I still have the energy to serve the people of Adjumani West. Let me repeat myself that I will contest again.

Addressing the rumours over his health, he said, “Some people pronounced me dead several times. It was only Jesus Christ who died and rose again.”

During the event, Ali handed out 130 land titles and inaugurated the Kiraba Community Resources Centre and the KuluKulu-Zoka Community Road in Adjumani District.

Born on April 5, 1939, Ali has been a significant figure in the NRM government and a key ally of President Museveni.
